How to Kill a Baby Calf in One Step: Eat Dairy

Many people stop eating meat to avoid killing animals, yet continue consuming dairy because they don’t think it involves killing.

But nothing could be further from the truth.

Like all mammals, cows, goats, sheep and other animals used for dairy first must have a baby in order to produce milk.

So, the dairy industry forcibly and repeatedly impregnates female animals to get and keep them lactating.

After the mothers carry and give birth, their babies are taken away from them, usually within mere hours or days, so we can take the milk instead.

Any of the baby animals who are not needed for the next generation of “milk producers” (including virtually all of the males) are killed as infants or youngsters.

As you may have guessed, this is where most veal calves come from (male calf “byproducts” of dairy farms). The veal industry would not exist without the dairy industry — they are one and the same.

And, ultimately, once the mother’s production declines and she is no longer considered “profitable” for her milk, which occurs at a fraction of her natural lifespan, she too is sent to be killed at the slaughterhouse as well.

This is no different, by the way, for any other “non-flesh” animal products, including eggs or wool. They all unavoidably involve as much (if not more) suffering and death for the animals as meat.

All of this exploitation, death and violence against the most vulnerable beings on the planet is completely unnecessary and easily avoidable. We have zero biological need to consume dairy or any other animal foods (and, in fact, we can be far healthier avoiding them altogether).

Please stop supporting this obscene brutalization and killing of the innocent for milk, flesh, eggs, skins, pelts and all of the other completely outdated and unnecessary animal products. It’s incredibly easy to do, starting today, simply by going and staying vegan.
