Most people (both here in the United States and all over the world) claim to respect and care about animals. Yet, at the same time, most people also pay for a relentless holocaust imposed on countless billions of sentient animals, simply because they like eating their flesh, eggs and milk. And we do this despite the fact that we have no biological need to consume one single gram of animal foods to be healthy. We also violently kill animals for leather, fur, feathers (down), etc., when these are also all things we easily can live without. Please don’t fool yourself. Unspeakable suffering and horrific cruelties (like that shown in this image) are INEVITABLE anytime we commoditize and exploit sentient beings. It is fundamentally unjust and violent. There is simply no way to “humanely” enslave, exploit and kill complex sentient individuals, whether these pigs or any other animal. How long will it take for us to recognize that there is nothing “normal” or “okay” in what we’re doing to vulnerable animals, even if it seems like everyone else is doing it? Notwithstanding the normalcy in our society, it is truly a sickening and horrible thing that we are doing to other animals. Please recognize that your consumption choices have very real and serious implications for animals, who pay the ultimate price for our whims. Please give serious consideration to what you morally owe to other animals, align your actions with your values, and live vegan. Please also help others make the connection so we can stop this atrocity that has no place in a so-called civilized or modern society. |
